Hi I'm in the end of rebuilding the subaru I need help with my Rex 1983 If anyone know where can I find aValve cover gasket rubber made Many 10x in advance Yori1312 Welcome Yori I will copy and paste a post from an even quieter forum based in Australia. This guy has actually made gasket sets for the 2 cylinder engine in both your REX and a Sherpa. First his post and then a link to the other VERY quiet Forum! Halso From: Halso <dawrightingsondaw...@gmail.com> Date: Wed, 23 Mar 2011 20:05:52 -0700 (PDT) Local: Wed, Mar 23 2011 9:05 pm Subject: sherpa 600 and 700 series engine rebuild kit (gaskets) for sale Print | Individual message | Show original | Report this message | Find messages by this author Hi all, I have been unable to find a single subaru dealer or mechanic that has been able to supply a full rebuild kit for the 600 and 700 series 665cc sherpa's, and what they have been able to get was stupidly expensive.....Over $130 for a head gasket alone and a wait of 3 to 4 weeks to get it..
Forget it! I have spoken with Fuji Heavy Industries in Japan (Subaru for those who didn't know) and have all the engineering specifications for the gaskets to form a full engine rebuild kit.
I have just taken delivery of 8 full gasket sets which I had made by the same company in Italy that Subaru used.. So the product I'm told is better than the originals.
If anyone's interested these kits ARE for sale..!
Each kit contains;
rocker cover gasket, head gasket, intake and exhaust gaskets, oil and water pump gaskets, front timing case gasket, flange gasket, sump gasket, thermostat housing gasket.
Currently I'm trying to source exact replacements for the front and rear main seals.. As soon as these are found they will be added to the kits along with valve stem seals.
Currently the kits comprising of just the gaskets are for sale and as a special deal for members of the Sherpa discussion group they are available at cost price plus postage to where ever you may be.. Please be aware that I will only send them by a traceable postage option.
Anyone interested just message me..... PS, I don't break down the kits to sell individual gaskets, cheaper for you to buy the whole thing.... groups.google.com/group/subaru-sherpa/topicsLove to see a picture of your REX. Again welcome, Justyfied

That's a great link, justyfied! I'd actually forgotten about that site. Chris. Yes that is a great specific site, it was that site plus a few other things that inspired me to start this one the way it is. I figured at first that the reason that site was slowing down and dying was because it is the old bulletin board linear style. Now I think part of the reason for it fading away is that these cars are just getting so darn rare! Subaru is not helping either when they close down factory support and make all parts obsolete.

I'm still looking for it all the best Yori, Plan B Iam sure that they also sold the Justy where you are.The Justy valve cover is flat. If you bought a gasket for it you will find it also has that "T" shape to it. The Justy engine is really The same as your engine with an extra cylinder and an extra intake valve per cylinder. If you were to slice the gasket at a 45 degree angle wrap it around inside your cover to get the right measurement. Then cut a corresponding 45 degree cut so that they overlap. Have this slice on the center part of the intake side. This is the highest side and least likely to leak. You could glue the 2 cut ends together with some Automotive silicone Gasket making material also.

Okay, I see you upgraded your profile, Again Welcome to this little forum, small but we aim to please. There seems to be quite a few older suby's still running in central America and there is a very large forum that has some active members from close to where you are. This should be a link to a member on the "USMB" who has the same car as you. however the motor is shot and she has been looking for alternatives. Perhaps she might be willing to sell the spare carb if it was not pitched out. Her name is Carmen. www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/member.php?u=19446I have the sneaking suspicion that the EK42 2 cylinder used the same carb as the carbed versions of the Justy. not sure if you would have access to them, they would run rich anyhow as they are set up for a 1000 or 1200 cc engine. Myself, I would use a Holley 2 BBl carb and adapt it to onto the intake. then at least you would be able to get the Jets you would need to adjust the air fuel ratio. If I come up with anymore I will post, keep in touch and let us know what happens.
