Hi folks, Just a quick note to introduce myself. I am down in Tasmania, Australia & I have 3 Sherpas, an '82, an '83 & an '85. The first 2 are spare parts cars & the '85 is my work vehicle. I work as a mobile mechanic ( the business being called Mechanix.) The '85 has a factory sunroof & I have fitted a what I believe to be a factory bullbar. I have replaced the rear springs with Mazda MX5 rear springs from Pedders. The rear shocks I also sourced from Pedders, they are modified HB Torana fronts. Can't get originals here. Does anyone know if they can be sourced elsewhere? Would also be interested to find out more about the super charged EK42's. Good little work bus, hauls around my tols etc with out too much drama. Some days I might do 160k round trips, other days just a few k's. I paid $450 for the '85 with 13 months rego. 8-)Cheers....lincolntbird.

Terry, A very Hardy welcome to you, Sorry it took me awhile compared to my usual standard of activity on this forum, Been on holidays from work so I don't get a chance to check this at home as much. Great to hear about your fleet, It would seem that if someone is serious about being successful in running one of these OLDER cars, you pretty much need a parts cars and willingness to do mechanical work yourself. As far as the Rear shocks and or struts for these older Subie models.... That is one of the biggest problem parts that go and that cannot be had as a Factory type original replacement. Either you have a set from a good parts car or you are adapting something else as you have done. As a side note, I have noticed that if you load your little car up with stuff or a full compliment of passengers it reduces the life expectancy of the parts considerably. I think they were UNDER Engineered from the start in the Shock department! Kind of lousy when you consider that the Sherpa was marketed to do exactly what you are using it for: a small economical delivery type vehicle! The Supercharged EK23 was available only in the Japanese market and would be tough to find. Not Sure there ever was a Supercharged EK42 2 cylinder engine! Far easier to obtain an engine/ tranny from a Vivio or Pleo which shouldn't be too terribly hard to swap in along with the wiring if you were to buy a Half cut car. If you are still wanting info on the Super or actually Turbo charged EK23,I have sales brochures in Japanese I could see about scanning. Also, yes there was a dealer installed optional "Bull Bar" Post up Pics of your little machines, pictures are always great! ;D Welcome to the Forum.

Thanks for the welcome. Will get some pics & post them soon, will need to wash the good one first though. The curse of living 1k down a gravel laneway & living out in the country. I am not sure if I have ever seen a Vivio or a Pleo. A little disapointed about no super charged EK42's, I was sort of looking forward to that possible option. Will have to keep looking into other options of beefing up the rear suspension. Will let you know if I find some sort of a solution. I think they are a fun car to drive although I might have to look into finding some more comfortable seats.
Cheers....lincolntbird.

You need to look no farther than the bottom section of this forum for posts with plenty of pictures of a Subaru Vivio. Produced from 92 to 98. That is because that is my daily driver at the moment. Still haven't gotten around to fixing up a Justy to to drive to work so that I can do some more involved work on the Vivio.
If you are not able to locate an importer who would be able to bring in a Half cut car from Japan. Then the only option for right away is to go back to the basic Hotrod modifications on what you have. Improved breathing with intake mods to accommodate a better carb. What I would favor for you would be to look at using a SU side draft carb off some British made car, or Volvo. The easiest is to replace the entire exhaust system and uncork this tiny pipe and stuff. Do you have Government emissions inspection standards to meet? Or can you get away without a Cat and a straight thru exhaust with a modest muffler? Last would be an improved ignition. Look to older motorcycles for this as there is alot more wasted spark 2 cylinder engine ignition systems out there on bikes. As for pictures, Don't sweat the dusty details, Under hood shots of the engine and rear suspension are great too!

Hi justyfied, this may seem like a silly question but how do I post pictures of my cars on the forum? :-) You may be able to host 1 picture at a time thru the Forum host:(This Site), but I have always just had my pictures on a Photo Hosting site and then posted the link to each picture into my thread. Speaking of Threads, here is one I created and stickied into the Guides and Links section which is now a little dated, Sorry. However it is a good step by step pictorial of setting up an account and putting pics into the host site called "Photobucket" Give this a read and it should help.: classicsubarujusty.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=guides&action=display&thread=126I would try and have multiple windows open on your browser when making a post here and also have your Photo hosting site open and minimized also. Makes things easier when putting in more than 1 picture into a post.

Wow, incredible that you either planned well or are really lucky that all Three of your cars are the same color! Makes things easy if you ever need to replace a fender. What happened to the engine form the 82? Did you pull it out or did you get the body only? What are your plans for the 82 and 84? Is one of those the one you had hoped to put the turbo engine into? Love the Big Ford too! Do you store stuff in the Bus? guessing it is from the early 60's with the split rear window. That would make a great converted Camper!

A case of being really lucky, twice. Both cars where complete & going when I bought them, although the '82 wouldn't drive. The girl I bought it from was told the clutch was stuffed when she bought it. I found out it was the left front hub spline stripped. The '82 was originally a pale blue. I pulled the motor from the '82 to put in the '86 & a week later I ended up buying the '84 & found the motor was better in it, so I pulled it out & put it in the '86. The motor in the '86 still went ok but seemed to lack a little power & had a cracked head as well as an unidentified rattle. The big fords are a '76 ZH Fairlane & a '98 LTD. I also have a '77 ZH Marquis & a '77 ZH Fairlane (project). The bus is an old Bedford that is used for storage, getting a little sad now to be converted to a camper. I had thought about a supercharger on the '86 Sherpa.
